Light Industrial and Office Units (B1)

Phase One of a development of seven light industrial and office units adjacent to a busy ‘A’ road in Sussex. The courtyard design not only creates a buffer and protected environment from the noisy road but also compliments the surrounding agricultural context, whilst standing-out as an example of contemporary architectural design.
In terms of sustainability, the design incorporates a cross laminated timber structure (CLT), cement free concrete, centralised heating and photovoltaic solar panels.
CLT construction provides long term storage for CO2 sequestered during tree growth, can provide a 50% reduction in on-site labour and reduce the overall construction programme by 25%. The cement free concrete is an ultra-low carbon alternative to traditional cement and can save up to 88% in embodied CO2 compared to a conventional concrete mix.
Detailed planning consent is anticipated in early in 2021.
